Fiber Construction in Your Yard—and What We Do About It

We understand that seeing your yard disturbed during fiber installation can be frustrating. This article explains why construction is necessary, what steps we take to minimize impact, and how we work to restore your property.

Why We Need Access to Your Property
To bring high-speed fiber internet directly to your home, we sometimes need to access utility easements that run through yards and landscaped areas. These easements are legally designated areas that allow utility providers to install and maintain infrastructure like fiber lines.

What to Expect During Construction

Our construction crews may need to:

  • Dig narrow trenches to lay fiber lines

  • Use specialized equipment to bore underground

  • Access underground utility boxes located in your yard

We aim to complete this work as quickly and cleanly as possible, typically within 1–3 days, depending on conditions.

Protecting Your Property

Before work begins, we:

  • Mark underground utilities to avoid damage

  • Use mats or boards to protect grass and landscaping where possible

  • Document the condition of your property for reference

We do our best to avoid flowerbeds and landscaping features, but in some cases, access may be unavoidable.

Restoration Process

Once installation is complete, our crews will:

  • Fill in any trenches and re-grade the area

  • Replace disturbed sod or reseed grass

  • Remove debris and clean up the site

Please note that full lawn regrowth may take several weeks, depending on weather and season.
